Lasik ... I finally took the plunge !

After many months of deliberation, I finally decided to take the plunge and do lasik on my eyes (on the 3rd December 2008). The fact that it is also covered by the company's medical benefits contributed to it.



So here i am, the morning I was supposed to do my lasik at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. I am kinda of nervous since the eyes are something that we can't do without ... ^ ^"

The procedure went pretty smoothly.. the only thing I didn't expect from the procedure is the SUPER blinding white light that you had to stare into, my surgeon Prof Heng, told me I just have to open my eyes and I will get used to it. It was really quite painful.

After that, it was:
.. '"it will last about 1 min"
.. "look into the red light"
.. "perfect, good, perfect".... *chao da smell in the air* EEKS

Before I knew, the 2 eyes were done and my surgeon said "Congratulations Yew Beng! You have a new set of eyes! "

That afternoon, I could barely open my eyes.. stinging feeling, sensitive to light ..etc.. but it is all worth it !!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO VAIN !!! ^^

Introduction to food other than milk

After 6 months of breast milk, we decided that it is time for Byron to try something else ...

We started with baby cereal, at small doses .. Lo and Behold, Byron took to the spoon almost immediately!! ^ ^ Steph and myself were so amazed at how easy it was to get him to eat from the spoon..

Here's some pictures taken during his first solid food experience 2 sundays ago when he just turned 6 months !

We went to the F1 !!!

Well at least it was for the practice rounds! And it was already an adrenalin rush ... VROOOM !!!!

we were sitting at the Pit Grandstands, which costs quite a fair bit. Fortunately we were lucky enough to get free tickets ^ ^


Opposite us were the pit stops .. all the respective pits have names on them... Nico Rosberg came in 2nd in the finals! !!!

This is either Fernando Alonso or his team mate Pique (who crashed out and led to a change of events that made Alonso the winner on the final day !)

Byron is now 5 months old !

How time flies! Byron is now already 5 months. .. it wasn't too long ago when Steph's tummy was still big and we were always talking and talking to a sleeping infant hidden from the outside world.

Last day with my 1.6A Black Getz

Today is the last day that I am going to drive my black getz. It has served us very well for the past 3 years. Both Steph and myself had many memories of our little black getz, from the first time I excitedly got the keys from the sales agent to using it as our bridal car.

some of the most memorable things that happened with the car:

1. I courted Stephine with the car
2. I waited on many occasions for Stephine to knock off from work during her Marriot days
3. We both did some damage to the car which led to some arguments
4. We had to squeeze some long speakers in the car resulting in Steph being squashed
5. Steph used it as her car for one of her earlier sales jobs , running around Singapore
   
6. It was our bridal car
7. We fetched Byron for his first trip back home in this car
8. I spent hours during the earlier days trying to polish the car and see it get rained on minutes after leaving the carpark
9. ... and so many more

Thank you 小黑 for all the good memories. You have been a good companion to both me and Stephine for the past 3 years. You have provided protection and shelter for us during our trips around Singapore and you have never given us any problems.

It is with a heavy heart that I say good bye to it and I hope it can find a good family overseas who will take good care of him.

Adios! My trusted friend! We will miss you very much.

Subaru .. here I come !

After much deliberation, we decided to trade in the car we won and go for an upgrade .. ^ ^

I told myself, you have to drive a sporty car once in a lifetime, so since this was a chance that is very hard to come by .. decided to go for it hahah.. we traded our 1.5 MT prize for a 2.0L Auto, woo hooo ... pictures will be put up soon.

Many of my friends have been asking about pictures about Byron, we have been pretty busy of late, but I promise I will load more pics of him. Byron is growing up very fast and he is so fun to be with, he is a big bundle of joy for myself and Steph, and even though our lifes have really changed, we never regretted for a single moment .. .

I WON A SUBARU IMPREZA !!!!

Yes! This is not a joke and I am not messing with your head, you don't need to check your eyes.. there is no typing error ...

I really won a car !!! ^^

We received an sms to take part in the SPH Shop and Win competition on 28th June 2008 to win a Subaru Impreza 1.5 (hatch back).

I took part in the same competition last year and missed out on the final round .... boo hoo...

So we went along this time, thinking maybe we could get lucky and win some prizes .. hah..

Last year, the task was to throw a paper plane into the Subaru Forester. This year, we had to play a car race game on a big screen. All you need to do is to tap the buzzer to make the car go, the faster you tap, the faster you go.. the first car to reach the end point wins ....

Here we are queuing for the game ... there are 2 rounds in total ...

Round 1 was relatively easy and I managed to get through. Thanks to my lion dance days, where I was a drummer, i was able to coordinate my hands pretty well... Phew!!! ...

Finally it came down to Round 3 - the tikum (Malay word meaning try your luck) round.

There were 22 of the contestants. Each was given an umbrella. ... it was getting tense.. I was given the last umbrella and I thought to myself. .. "No choice of umbrella.. so i guess no car, let's hope i win the OSIM uPaPa for my sore back" ...

When i was opening .. I just saw Steph on the corner of my eyes .. she was went like O_O... "Car! Car! " ... gesturing wildly ... then before i knew, people were shouting at me !!!

I was hysterical and I kept jumping up and down ... hollering at the top of my voice, never in my wildest dream would i imagine that I could win a car in a contest !!! .. .

Byron goes swimming !!!

About 2 weeks ago, Me and Steph decided to bring Byron for his first swimming experience at 9 weeks !!!! ^ ^ which freaked out my parents in law a little ...

Being the more adventurous ones, we decided we should let him try :) i believe we grew up as a result of our environment. So the sooner, we expose him the better it is .. .

Under the watchful and somewhat anxious eyes of my parents in law, I lowered Byron into the water .. he was shocked by the cold of the water !!!

Within 2 minutes, he stopped and sort of go into mediation mode.. he looks like he is enjoying it ..

Byron is more than one month old already !!!!

How time flies! Byron has come into our lifes for more than 7 weeks!!!!

It has been tiring but extremely fulfilling for me and Stephine. This may sound cliche but Byron's arrival has been the biggest blessing in our lives.

I strongly encourage all my friends to start family planning !!! ^^"

Discharged from hospital... find the baby !!!

Stephine and Byron plus me of course, were discharged on the 5th April from the hospital in the pink of health ! :)

We are PARENTS !!!!

On the 3rd of April 2008 2.46pm, baby Byron Lim was brought into our world. He weighs a hefty 3.9 kg and is 53 cm long!!!

Stephine and Byron (and Beng) is doing well !!! ^ ^



We are proud parents of an amazingly handsome boy and look forward to a new chapter in our lives!!!
